Even though it befuddled me, The Favourite reminded me of how much I loved teaching history, including art history. And I had no idea, until I began teaching European history, that my favorite Neoclassic artist would turn out to be a man from Queen Anne’s time and one closely linked to the lives of John and Sarah Churchill, Lancelot “Capability” Brown. Brown wasn’t an artist or a sculptor. He was a landscape architect. Here is some of his work.
